Arizona Derby Dames 2012 Season Banked Track Roller Derby Championships Coffin Draggers vs. Bombshells and Phoenix Rattleskates vs. San Diego Aftershocks
June 8 2012

Saturday, June 23rd at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum

Phoenix, AZ (June 2, 2012). The Arizona Derby Dames return to the Coliseum to fight for the Championship win. Teams competed throughout the season for top stats rankings and the chance to move directly into the championship game by ending the season in first place. For the third year in a row, the Coffin Draggers will take on the challenging team, going head-to-head with the Bombshells for the 2012 season. In addition to the main event, the Dames are proud to be hosting a bout between the men’s leagues: the Phoenix Rattleskates versus the San Diego Aftershocks.

The stakes are high for both teams competing for the Championship title. If the Coffin Draggers win, they will have been the only team in Arizona Derby Dames banked track history to have won the Championship after an undefeated season for two consecutive years. If the Bombshells win, they will have secured the first ever Championship win for their team; something they’ve been fighting for over the past few years.

All of the bouting teams will be bringing their top game to the upcoming playoff bout. “It will be an intense game, and I feel we all have been working really hard for it!” said Yvonna Bone, blocker and jammer for the Bombshells. “I am feeling very excited about the Championships.” Boner also wanted to give a “huge thank you to the fans for coming out,” explaining that “this league is full of such talent… I am very proud to be able to say I’m an Arizona Derby Dame.” Boner and the rest of the Bombshells are gearing up for a high-energy, passionate bout against the Coffin Draggers.

The Draggers have also been training diligently for the upcoming bout. According to Abby Arsenic, blocker and pivot for the Coffin Draggers, the reigning Champions are “really looking forward to this bout and the opportunity to defend [their] Championship title for another season.”

The Championship bout promises an incredible show of force, perseverance, and skill from the two bouting teams. In addition, June’s Championship bout includes a bout showcasing Phoenix’s men’s league, the Phoenix Rattleskates.
