Banked Track Roller Derby Tournament
Hosted by Arizona Derby Dames in Phoenix, Arizona
Friday through Saturday, June 10-12 at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum


Phoenix, AZ (May 31). Mark your calendars for June 10, 11 and 12 as the Arizona Derby Dames host a national banked track roller derby tournament at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Battle on the Bank IV will feature nine teams from around the country, who will compete in the fourth annual tournament (which is hosted by a different league in a different city each year). The best banked track skaters from around the country will be at this tournament, bringing amazing roller derby to Phoenix for three days straight.

The Battle on the Bank tradition began in Los Angeles, California in 2008 when the Los Angeles Derby Dolls hosted the first modern organized banked track roller derby tournament (won by the L.A. Derby Dolls). 2009’s Battle on the Bank tournament was hosted in Houston, Texas by the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls (won by San Diego Derby Dolls). Battle on the Bank III in 2010 was hosted by the San Diego Derby Dolls, who also won the tournament for the second year in a row.

Teams for Battle on the Bank IV will include (in tournament seed order) San Diego Derby Dolls, Team Legit (all star flat track skaters), Los Angeles Derby Dolls, TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls (Austin), Arizona Derby Dames, Tilted Thunder Railbirds (Seattle), Orange County Roller Girls, South Side Roller Derby (Houston), and Tucson Roller Derby. Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum is located at 1826 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85007 (602-252-6771). Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. with the bouts starting at 2:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. with the bouts starting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Friday and Saturday will each feature 6 half games, while Sunday will feature the two full games that will determine first through fourth place. General admission tickets will be $15 a day or $40 for all three days. Parking will be $7. Tickets will be on sale the day of the events at the Coliseum box office starting at 12 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday and at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Advance tickets may be purchased until 2 p.m. on June 9th at tickets.arizonaderbydames.com. Stick around for the after party and awards ceremony right inside the Coliseum at the Arizona State Fair Bar & Grill after the championship bout on Sunday. Meet with the skaters over some drinks and discuss the weekend’s bouts. All ages are welcome, but you must be over 21 to be served at the bar.
